How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Committee accomplishes its purpose through information-gathering activities to include fact-finding activity, public briefing, and the solicitation of a broad cross-section of viewpoints about civil rights issues in its state and then reports on its findings and recommendations to the Commission.
How is membership balanced?*Consideration is given to a cross-section of those directly affected, interested, and qualified as appropriate to the nature and functions of the Committee. No person is denied an opportunity to serve because of race, age, sex, religion, national origin, or disability. Members include individuals with a demonstrated interest in the civil rights issues of color, race, religion, gender, age, disability, national origin, and voting rights. Membership is fairly balanced in terms of the points of view represented and the functions to be performed, and both major political parties are represented.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Depending upon resources, Advisory Committees are encouraged to meet at least four times each year and more often, if possible.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*Congress has directed the Commission to establish at least one Committee in each state, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The Committees compose a unique network of diverse citizens who enable the Commission to carry out its advisory purpose.
Why close or partially close meetings? No meetings were closed or partially closed.
Recommendation RemarksCosts attributed to this Committee are the Commission's share of allocated costs for all Committee activity.
