How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Advisory Board advises the interagency National Council for the American Worker (Council) on the workforce policy of the United States. Its recommendations include steps to encourage the private sector and educational institutions to combat the skills crisis by investing in and increasing demand-driven education, training, and re-training, including through apprenticeships and work-based learning opportunities.
How is membership balanced?*The Advisory Board is composed of the Secretary of Commerce and the Advisor to the President overseeing the Office of Economic Initiatives, and not more than 25 members appointed by the President from among citizens outside the Federal Government, and includes individuals chosen to serve as representatives of the various sectors of the economy, including the private sector, employers, educational institutions, and States, to offer diverse perspectives on how the Federal Government can improve education, training, and re-training for American workers.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*There will be 4 estimated number of meetings per year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*Executive Order 13845 established two bodies in support of the Administration’s policy and strategy related to the American Workforce: an interagency council and an advisory committee, the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board (Advisory Board). The Advisory Board shall advise the National Council for the American Worker on the workforce policy of the United States. Its recommendations shall include steps to encourage the private sector and educational institutions to combat the skills crisis by investing in and increasing demand-driven education, training, and re-training, including through apprenticeships and work-based learning opportunities.

Number Of Recommendations CommentThe AWPAB meets in session about four times a year. The Committee is broken up into subgroups which presents recommendations to the Committee each meeting and works to build consensus among members. The Committee reviews the recommendations and provides advice and feedback in a public forum.
