Committee Detail

Note: An Annual Comprehensive Review, as required by §7 of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, is conducted each year on committee data entered for the previous fiscal year (referred to as the reporting year). The data for the reporting year is not considered verified until this review is complete and the data is moved to history for an agency/department. See the Data From Previous Years section at the bottom of this page for the committee’s historical, verified data.

Details on agency responses to committee recommendations can be found under the Performance Measures section for each committee in the fields “Agency Feedback” and “Agency Feedback Comment.”

Legislation Status
How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*U.S. Joint Forces Command's role to lead the joint transformation of our military requires that they seek the recommendations and advice of top leaders in industry, academia, and government sectors. USJFCOM TAG will provide timely advice on scientific, technical, intelligence, and policy-related issues to the Commander, USJFCOM. Additonally, information may be provided by establishing sub-committees, if required, in the aeas of broadening intellectual capital and shaping the Special Access Programs Agenda. Future topics may include providing strategic guidance improving response to catastrophic events; removing roadblocks to USJFCOM transformation progress and the improving the process for getting innovation to the War Fighter; moving from coordination to Unified Action, and how to effectively represent the activities of US Joint Forces Command to its customers.
How is membership balanced?*The USJFCOM Transformation Advisory Group is composed of a broad cross-section of personnel from industry, government, academia, and major journals encompassing a broad spectrum of ivergent points of view. Candidates have been carefully selected to represent those segments of the community they represent.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The committee meets up to twice a year and discusses issues of current interest to the Commander and also conducts addtional work in assigned standing committees in accordance with its charter.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Joint Forces Command does not have the staff or expertise to provide the level of advice and assistance with the depth and breath of knowledge furnished by this distinguished group of Americans from across the professional spectrum. There are no existing DoD staffs or committees performing an equivalent function for US Joint forces Command.
Why close or partially close meetings?Meetings are not closed to the public unless the Department of Defense determines that items on the planned agenda meet the closed meeting provisions of 5 U.S.C. § 552b(c). Pursuant to DoD policy closed meetings can only be authorized by the DoD Sponsor (i.e., the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff), and only after consultation with the sponsor's General Counsel.
Recommendation RemarksSome associated documents are classified. The committee keeps these documents as required by the statute, and are retained and archived in accordance with DoD and National Archives and Records Administration guidelines.

The Group held no meetings in FY11.

Te Group was terminated based upon the Secretary of Defense's decision to distablish USFCOM.

Group terminated 6/11/2011

Department of Defense (DoD) policy between fiscal year 2007 and 2011 required that subcommittee members be listed separately in the subcommittee section of GSA’s Database, even if they were duly appointed members of the parent committee. This policy, in some instances, caused a duplication of entries.

Beginning in fiscal year 2012, DoD will only list in the subcommittee section of GSA’s Database those who are appointed to just a subcommittee. If an individual is appointed to the parent committee and to one of the committee’s authorized subcommittees then his or her subcommittee affiliation will be reflected in the parent committee membership section of GSA’s Database.
