How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The members of the committee provide recommendations on issues that address the application of scientific information to public land management for land and resources managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Science Advisory Board works under a work plan approved by the BLM Director which includes curriculum issues for universities, review and monitor the implementation of the BLM Science Strategy, development of a statement and suggested policy on peer review, writing various discussion papers, and prepare and present to the Director a report on emerging issues that the Science Advisory Board thinks require science-based information for decision making.
How is membership balanced?*	Representatives include one from private industry, four from academia, one from a public policy group and one from a conservation group. Each has expertise in one of the fields of natural resource management, energy and minerals, biology, forestry and rangeland management, ecology, and social and political science.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	There were no meetings held in FY 2004.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	It was determined that this committee is no longer necessary.
Why close or partially close meetings?	All previous meetings were open to the public.
Recommendation Remarks	The BLM Science Advisory Board was terminated July 15, 2004 when the charter expired.
