How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The BLM's Northeastern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council reviews projects and programs and advises the designated Federal officer regarding the management of public land resources within the RAC's jurisdiction. The RAC provides input from the various stakeholders who use public lands.
How is membership balanced?*The Northeastern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council is composed of 15 members distributed in a balanced fashion among the following groups. Category I includes those holding Federal grazing permits or leases, interests associated with transportation or rights-of-way, developed outdoor recreation, OHV users, or commercial recreation activities, commercial timber industry, or energy and mineral development. Category II includes nationally or regionally recognized environmental organizations, dispersed recreation activities, archaeological and historical interests, or nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups. Category III includes state, county, or locally elected office-holders, employee of a State agency responsible for the management of natural resources, Indian Tribes within or adjacent to the area for which the RAC is organized, are employed as academicians in natural resource management or the natural sciences, or represent the public-at-large.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The RAC typically meets 2-4 times a year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The RAC allows BLM managers to receive advice and feedback from a wide variety of interested citizens in a single forum. The RAC provides the various interests a single forum to discuss issues, develop guidelines, and reach consensus.
