How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) reviews projects and programs, and advises the designated Federal officer regarding management of public land resources within the RAC’s jurisdiction. Through its representatives, the RAC provides input from the various stakeholders who use the public lands.
How is membership balanced?*The Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council is comprised of 15 members distributed in a balanced fashion among the following groups. Category I includes those holding Federal grazing permits or leases, interests associated with transportation or rights-of-way, developed outdoor recreation, OHV users, or commercial recreation activities, commercial timber industry, or energy and mineral development. Category II includes nationally or regionally recognized environmental organizations, dispersed recreation activities, archaeological and historical interests, or nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups. Category III includes state, county, or locally elected office-holders, employee of a state agency responsible for the management of natural resources, Indian Tribes within or adjacent to the area for which the RAC is organized, are employed as academicians in natural resource management or the natural sciences, or represent the public-at-large.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*There were no meetings held in FY 2020. The Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) typically meets 2-4 times a year and provides BLM managers with significant advice on a variety of resource management programs and projects.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) allows BLM managers to receive advice and feedback from a wide variety of interested citizens in a single forum. The RAC provides various stakeholders with a forum to discuss issues and reach consensus.
Why close or partially close meetings?All meetings are open to the public.
Recommendation RemarksMojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (2062) was consolidated with 2/3 of the Northeastern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (2063) effective March 5, 2020. Even though the geographic boundaries and members of the RACs have changed, the name remains the same.
