How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park Advisory Commission will advise the Secretary in the development and implementation of the management plan for the Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. The draft General Management Plan and Environmental Assessment was released for public review and public comment in January 2016.
How is membership balanced?*The Commission is composed of nine individuals appointed by the Secretary. The nine members will be as follows: Four members appointed after consideration of recommendations submitted by the Governor of the State of New Jersey; Two members appointed after consideration of recommendations submitted by the City Council of Paterson, New Jersey; One member appointed after consideration of recommendations submitted by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Passaic County, New Jersey; and Two members with experience with national parks and historic preservation.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The Commission, which meets quarterly, continues to advise the Secretary, via the National Park Service, on the development of the Park's General Management Plan (GMP). The Commission has played a direct role in assisting park planners and staff to 1) organize pertinent planning forums, 2) cultivate park manager relationships with key stakeholders, 3) solicit public input, and 4) provide members to internal planning meetings.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park Advisory Commission was established by Title VII, Subtitle A, Section 7001(e) of Public Law 111-11, the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, March 30, 2009. The purpose of the Commission is to advise the Secretary of the Interior in the development and implementation of the management plan.

Recommendation RemarksPursuant to Section 301(a)(b), Public Law 102-525, October 26, 1992, regarding charters and members of National Park System Advisory Committees: (a) The provisions of section 14(b) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (5 U.S.C. Appendix; 86 Stat. 776) are hereby waived with respect to any advisory commission or advisory committee established by law in connection with any national park system unit during the period such advisory commission or advisory committee is authorized by law. (b) In the case of any advisory commission or advisory committee established in connection with any national park system unit, any member of such commission or committee may serve after the expiration of his or her term until a successor is appointed.
