How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The ERWG gathers experts and stakeholders to provide the Secretary of Transportation, through the Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), with advice and recommendations for the implementation of best practices for expeditious State approval of special permits for vehicles involved in emergency response and recovery, as required by Section 5502 of PL 114-94.
How is membership balanced?*Section 5502 of PL 114-94 requires that the ERWG include representatives from State highway transportation departments or agencies; relevant modal agencies within the Department; emergency response or recovery experts; relevant safety groups; and entities affected by special permit restrictions during emergency response and recovery efforts.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*No plans for upcoming meetings
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*ERWG is mandated by Section 5502 of PL 114-94.

Members were appointed and the committee began its work in early December 2016. The working group has completed their report, and it will be submitted to the Secretary shortly. The FY18 and projected FY19 costs, includes budget for committee related administrative assistance from a consultant.
