Agency Recommendation*Continue
Legislation to Terminate RequiredNo
Legislation StatusNot Applicable
How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The committee will meet and determine its initial goals. From there the members of the committee will conduct outreach in their respective communities soliciting both advice and comments on the stated goals and ideas for issues or projects that the committee should take up.
How is membership balanced?*Five different parties appoint committee members. The Secretary of the Treasury selected three members and three Congressional representatives each selected one member. The Secretary's pending appointees were selected after an open application and nomination process.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Estimated Number of Meetings per Year - 3
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The members of the committee are tribal leaders and executives with real world experience and expertise related to issues important to the tribes. The Treasury Department conducts listening and consultation sessions with tribes and tribal representatives, but having a standing committee of experts who can discuss and develop issues over time is a function that the committee is far more suited to.
Why close or partially close meetings? Not Applicable
Recommendation RemarksIn February 2018 the final Committee member was appointed and so the Committee can be stood up now and a meeting should be organized to do that.
