How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Committee evaluates and recommends proposals for funding to the Secretary of Agriculture as outlined in Title IV of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 (PL 111-11). The Committee met to evaluate proposals and recommended 13 projects for funding to the Secretary.
How is membership balanced?*This panel was appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture and includes a balance of experts in ecological restoration, fire ecology, fire management, rural economic development, strategies for ecological adaptation to climate change, fish and wildlife ecology, and woody biomass and small-diameter tree utilization.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The Committee met once or twice per year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*To complete grant proposal reviews throughout the period defined by the Title IV of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 (PL 111-11).

At the July 2010 meeting, they recommended 10 projects to be funded in FY 2010 to the Secretary of Agriculture. The Secretary of Agriculture reviewed the recommendations, and in consultation with the Secretary of the Interior, funded 9 of the 10 recommended proposals and one additional proposal. In FY2012, the Advisory Panel recommended an additional 13 proposals for funding. Agency Feedback CommentThe agency maintains open lines of communication with the Committee members in order to ensure that they are up to date on implementation of their recommendations.Narrative Description*The Committee evaluates and recommends proposals for funding to the Secretary of Agriculture as outlined in Title IV of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 (PL 111-11). In FY2010, the panel recommended 10 proposals for funding. In FY2011, the panel designed a mechanism by with they will review proposals solicited in FY2011. Congress did not appropriate enough funding to support additional projects in FY2011, so these proposals were not evaluated until FY2012. In FY2012, the panel evaluated these proposals and recommended an additional 13 proposals for funding. The Secretary of Agriculture selected 10 of these proposals for funding under CFLR.
