How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Committee holds public hearings and makes recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on a policy framework for the development and adoption of a nationwide health information infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.
How is membership balanced?*The membership is comprised of politically appointed individuals that represent stakeholder groups, varying geographic localities, and minorities.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Before the committee was terminated, four meetings held jointly with the HIT Standards Committee, were held this year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*Established pursuant to the HITECH Act (included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009).
