How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Commission holds open meetings to gather information and input so that they may perform a comprehensive review of the back end of the fuel cycle including management of civilian and defense used nuclear fuel and defense high-level waste. In addition, the Commission established subcommittees to address the specific issue of reactor and fuel cycle technology, transportation and storage, and disposal.
How is membership balanced?*Since established, the Commission membership has been maintained without any changes.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The Commission continues to have open meetings of both the full Commission and the three subcommittees. The full Commission meetings are held every other month – or as needed. Subcommittee meetings are held monthly or as needed. The Commission terminated on January 29, 2012, as stated in the Executive Order, after completing their final report.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Commission is necessary to provide advice and make recommendations for a new plan for the management of civilian and defense used nuclear fuel and defense high-level waste. The Commission terminated on January 29, 2012, as stated in the Executive Order, after completing their final report.
