How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*By soliciting input from stakeholders and convening the 2005 White House Conference on Aging December 11 through 14, 2005 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.
How is membership balanced?*Nine members of the Policy Committee were appointed by the President, and eight members were appointed by the Congress (four members by the Senate, four members by the House; two Democrats and and two Republicans each).
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Six open PC meetings have been held and announced in the Federal Register in FY 2005 to plan for 2005 White House Conference on Aging in December 2005. The Subcommittees have met approximately three to five times in FY 2005 to disuss issues and plan for the 2005 WHCoA FY 2005. Three open conference calls were held in 2006 in order to complete the Final Report.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Older Americans Act Amendments of 2000 (Public Law 106-501, November 2000) requires that the President will convene a White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) no later than December 31, 2005, to gather individuals representing the spectrum of thought and experience in the field of aging.
Why close or partially close meetings?Policy Committee meetings were open and announced in the Federal Register. There were no closed meetings.

Agency Feedback CommentAgency Representative voted on accepting the RecomendationsNarrative Description*The 2005 White House Conference on Aging is scheduled to took place December 11 through 14, 2005 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. The Older Americans Act Amendments of 2000 (Public Law 106-501, November 2000) requires that a Preliminary Report shall be published and delivered to the Executive Officers of the States not more than 100 days after the date on which the White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) adjourns. Not more than 6 months after the date on which the WHCoA adjourns, the Policy Committee must publish and transmit to the Congress recommendations resulting from the WHCoA and suggestions for any administrative action and legislation necessary to implement the recommendations in the report.
