How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Committee (Task Force) makes recommendations to the Fish and Wildlife Service on funding of projects for restoration of anadromous fishery resources of the Klamath River Basin. Recommendations for funding include restoration projects, local restoration planning groups, education of restoration issues in the Klamath River Basin, data gathering projects which will enable decision makers to make informed decisions. The Task Force has worked with the U.S. Geological Survey to plan implementation of flow studies to better understand the restoration needs of anadromous fishes of the Klamath River.
How is membership balanced?*Membership represents a broad cross section of stake holders and organizations with interests in restoration of anadromous fish resources in the Klamath River. Diverse interests and conflicting demands for a dwindling resource sometimes result in a lengthy decision process on more contentious issues. The program evaluation identified in block 16b has identified frequent inability to reach consensus as a significant problem, and the Task Force is considering the solutions recommended in the evaluation report. Their consensus on the importance of the Klamath River Flow Study shows significant progress.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*This group meets on an as needed basis, which has leveled out to about 3 times per year. Meetings correspond to the committee's function in developing the annual work plan for restoration work.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Klamath River Basin Fishery Resoures Restoration Act directs that the Task Force will advise the Secretary of the Interior on anadromous fishery restoration in the Klamath River Basin. Restoration of the salmon fishery has become an important issue in the Klamath River Basin.
Why close or partially close meetings? All meetings are open to the public.
