RECOMMENDATION/JUSTIFICATIONS

Agency Recommendation*Terminate
Legislation to Terminate RequiredYes
Legislation StatusEnacted
How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Allegheny National Wild and Scenic River Northern Advisory Council assisted with public involvement and coordination with other agencies during the development of the River Management Plan (RMP). The RMP was approved on 1/2/97.
How is membership balanced?*N/A
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*N/A
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*Most recommendations in the RMP involve lands outside the jurisdiction of the Federal government (i.e. private and State-administered lands and programs). Implementation of recommendations in the RMP are therefore more dependent on local citizen/government initiative than Federal actions. It therefore has been concluded that a less-structured and more flexible nongovernment grass roots citizen involvement process is appropriate to implement the RMP. One such group has been formed by the Venango Museum to assist and coordinate local initiatives with implementation of management recommendations along the W&SR in Venango County. Citizen interest has been expressed in forming a similar support group for the southern W&SR segments.
Why close or partially close meetings?N/A
Recommendation RemarksSunset provision allows termination.
