How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The scope and objectives are to advise and make recommendations to the Presidential Task Force on Employment of Adults with Disabilities (PTFEAD) and the Office of Disability Employment Policy on a range of issues relevant to improving employment outcomes for young persons with disabilities. The duties and responsibilities are to make recommendations on various issues falling within the mandate of the Task Force relating to increasing positive employment outcomes for young people with disabilities. PTFEAD is seeking this input to ensure that the Task Force's activities and policy recommendations respond to the needs of youth and young adult with disabilities.
How is membership balanced?*We are balanced because the committee will consist of approximately 15 young members appointed by the Secretary. The members will be youth and young adults between the ages of 14 and 28 of demographic diversity representing a variety of disabling conditions and viewpoints.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Estimated Number of Meetings per Year - 1 Estimated Total Meetings - 1
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*This committee is essential because it is well established that the educational and employment achievements of young people with disabilities fall significantly below that of their peers without disabilities. This committee will expand the Task Force's mandate to improve employment outcomes for persons with disabilities by addressing the education, transition, employment, health, and rehabilitation and independent living issues affecting young people with disabilities. Presently there is no nationally representative Youth Advisory Council conducting appropriate activities to resolve these types of issues.
Why close or partially close meetings?
