Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*This committee is essential to review and analyze the adequacy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation security policies and procedures and to make recommendations to the Attorney Gneeral on ways to improve their effectiveness.
Why close or partially close meetings? The Attorney General has determined that Commission meetings will be closed to the public due to the subject matter involved and the likelihood that sensitive national security information regarding intelligence and counter-intelligence investigative techniques and procedures will be reviewed and discussed in an open forum. The release of this information could result in the compromise of information technology programs and could also endanger the lives and safety of FBI Special Agents, other intelligence community personnel, and individuals aiding the efforts of our intelligence personnel. Meetings will be conducted and records of the proceeding kept as required by the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
