How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*N/A
How is membership balanced?*In order to accomplish the mission of the committee, a cross-section of the Agency and the communities it serves were required. The expertise and knowledge brought in by a long-term agency employees from each branch was counterbalanced by non-agency members who were selected for their ties to their community or groups they represent, and their experience and knowledge of it's concerns and issues. Every effort was made to assure representation of every cultural group and geographical location within the jurisdiction of the District. The combined experience contributed by both Agency and non-agency members will bring to the Committee new perspectives and ideas, and establish better communication between the District and it's communities. With this, the Committee is expected to present workable, realistic and contributable recommendations that will have a positive impact on all in the District, both the Agency and the communities it serves.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The meetings take place tri-annually.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*Non-agency members are established representatives of communities throughout the New York District. Their long-standing relationships and contact with these communities or groups make them equitable and immediate representatives. However, the advice sought by the Committee as a whole is not merely information that the non-agency members can provide. The establishment of the Committee combining the resources, knowledge and experience of both agency and non-agency members was to gain new perspectives. It's from these new points of views and insights that new solutions or better recommendations to on-going concerns, issues or problems will be found.
Why close or partially close meetings?N/A
