Legislation Status
How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Task Force accomplishes its purpose by discussing and developing policy alternatives at its semiannual meetings, by meeting with federal, state and local experts, and by preparing a report to the Attorney General, the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and the Cabinet.
How is membership balanced?*The Task Force has members who are both federal and non-federal employees, from diverse parts of the country, and with many different areas of expertise, including drug treatment, drug prevention, and drug education, as well as law enforcement and medical and criminal justice research.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The meetings of the Task Force are semiannual. Most of the meetings are spent collecting information and discussing how it can be best transmitted to the Attorney General and the Cabinet.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*This Task Force is necessary because Methamphetamine is emerging as a drug that has the potential to become a significant national concern, and the federal response to methamphetamine must be one that coordinates many different departments.
Why close or partially close meetings? No meetings of the Task Force are closed.
