How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Committee's goal was to study and make recommendations regarding what public interest responsibilities broadcasters will be responsible for upon receipt of digital television licenses. Committee provided this advice to the Administration via a draft report to the Vice President.
How is membership balanced?*According to Section 1 of Executive Order 13038, Members shall be chosen from the private sector, including members of the commercial and noncommercial broadcasting industry, computer industries, producers, academic institutions, public interest organizations, and the advertising community.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Meetings took place approximately every two months to discharge the Committee's mandate under Executive Order 13038.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*President Clinton established this committee to advise Vice President Gore on the public interest responsibilities that should accompany the broadcasters receipt of digital television licenses.
