How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Commission supported the park in its efforts to have government-owned lands, known as Bayou aux Carpes, included within park boundaries.The Commission served as a link with area communities.
How is membership balanced?*Membership was comprised of a cross-section of regional special interests and social, political, and economic groups.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The Commission terminated on November 10, 1998, in accordance with Public Law 95-625.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Delta Region Preservation Commission was established by the Congress to advise the Secretary of the Interior in the selection of sites for inclusion in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, in the development and implementation of a General Management Plan, and in the development and implementation of a comprehensive interpretive program of the natural, historic, and cultural resources of the region. The Commission informed interested members of the public, the State of Louisiana and its political subdivisions, and interested Federal agencies with respect to existing and proposed actions and programs having a material effect on the perpetuation of a high-quality natural and cultural environment in the delta region.

Recommendation Remarks(1) Re #6 (EXPECTED CHARTER RENEWAL DATE) -- The FACA section 14(b) biennial rechartering requirement was waived for this committee by P.L. 102-525, October 26, 1992.
(2) Re MEMBERSHIP -- In accordance with the committee Charter and P.L. 102-525, members could continue to serve after the expiration of their terms until successors were appointed. (3) Re TERMINATION--Pursuant to P.L. 95-625, the Delta Region Preservation Commission terminated November 10, 1998.
