Legislation Status
How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The MAAC will provide strategic guidance, advice, and recommendations to the U.S. government and relevant stakeholders on matters related to growth, supply chain resilience, and innovation of small manufacturing businesses across the country
How is membership balanced?*
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The MAAC shall meet at least three (3) times per year at the call of the Chair of the Advisory Committee in consultation with the DFO, or at the request of the SBA Administrator.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The committee members will utilize their experiences in manufacturing to provide insights, recommendations and feedback on issues affecting the manufacturing industry that cannot be found in the government. SBA will work with the private sector, academia and manufacturing industry experts to gain knowledge and attune to the burdens and challenges in the manufacturing space to better understand and serve their needs. The regulations and structure of FACA provide the MAAC with a transparent space where the appearance of potentially illicit influence can be dispelled and provide accountability with statutory safeguards
Why close or partially close meetings? The MAAC's meetings will be open to the public.
Recommendation RemarksThe MAAC will bring the advice and recommendations needed to promote SBA’s mission of supporting small businesses. The forthcoming recommendations will be critical in helping SBA bolster the manufacturing industry and signal to small manufacturers that SBA is an ally that will work to provide opportunities, resources and policies that support the industry.
