How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (Committee or REEEAC) advised the Secretary of Commerce regarding the development and administration of programs and policies to expand the competitiveness of the U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency industries.
How is membership balanced?*Members of the Committee represent U.S. companies, U.S. trade associations, and U.S. private sector organizations with activities focused on the competitiveness of U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency goods and services. Members reflected the diversity of this sector, including in terms of entity or organization size, geographic location, and sub-sector represented.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Approximately four times per year; meetings were held in person or virtually. Meetings were highly relevant, as they helped to develop actionable recommendations and to provide Committee members with key information to use going forward.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Committee was necessary to ensure coordination and focused support for the competitiveness of U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, particularly with respect to exports. There was no additional entity that could provide this information.
Why close or partially close meetings?In FY2025, all meetings were open to the public. Online access was also provided as an option to the public for in-person meetings.
Recommendation RemarksPer EO 14217, the Secretary of Commerce has determined that the purposes for which REEEAC was established have been fulfilled, and the committee has been terminated effective February 28, 2025.
