How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice (FACJJ), which consists of appointed representatives from the nation’s state advisory groups, typically meets at least twice annually to develop recommendations on juvenile justice issues and concerns the OJJDP Administrator, the President, Congress.
How is membership balanced?*	The FACJJ will be composed of 20 member representatives of the State Advisory Groups appointed under 34 U.S.C. § 11133(a)(3). No member may serve more than two-year terms (four years total) on the FACJJ (including any successor advisory committee formed pursuant to Title II of the Act), except as specified in the By-Laws of the FACJJ.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	Typically, the full Committee meets at least twice each year to carry out the duties identified in the charter and otherwise as required. In addition, subcommittees convene to support the activities of the FACJJ. Due to delays in re-establishing membership, the FACJJ did not meet in FY2024.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	Section 241(f) of the JJDP Act mandates that the Administrator of OJJDP provide funding for this committee. In accordance with the JJDPA, the FACJJ plays a critical role in ensuring that OJJDP, the Congress, and the President are aware of state concerns pertinent to juvenile justice and related issues.
