How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The committee provides advice and recommendations to the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on motor carrier safety programs and regulations.
How is membership balanced?*	Composed of up to 25 experts from FMCSA's motor carrier stakeholder communities, the committee is balanced among the motor carrier industry, safety advocates, labor, and safety enforcement sectors. Members are appointed by the Administrator and selected from a field of qualified candidates with a wide range of motor carrier experience and expertise.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The full committee meets approximately 1-2 times per fiscal year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The MCSAC provides the Agency with important and relevant information from our motor carrier safety from across the safety enforcement, safety advocacy, industry, and labor stakeholders.

Recommendation Remarks	Originally established by Section 4144 of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, Pub. L. 109-59, the Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee was reauthorized by the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21, section 32912), and would have terminated on September 30, 2013, had it not been established by the Secretary of Transportation as a discretionary advisory committee on 9-10-13 and chartered from 9-30-13 through 9-30-15. Secretary Foxx renewed the MCSAC's charter, effective 9-30-15, through 9-30-17, and Secretary Chao renewed it, effective 9-29-17 through 9-29-19, and again through 9/29/21.
