How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Committee, pursuant to section 1647(b) of the FY 2017 NDAA, provides the Secretary of Defense, through the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, independent advice and recommendations on matters relating to industrial security and industrial base policy. The Committee shall review and assess: a. the national security program for cleared facilities and the protection of the information and networking systems of cleared defense contractors; b. policies and practices relating to physical security and installation access at installations of the Department of Defense; c. information security and cyber defense policies, practices, and reporting relating to the unclassified information and networking systems of defense contractors; d. policies, practices, regulations, and reporting relating to industrial base issues; and e. any other matters the Secretary of Defense determines to be appropriate.
How is membership balanced?*	The Committee, pursuant to section 1647(c) of the FY 2017 NDAA, shall be composed of ten members of which five members shall be representatives of non-governmental entities and five members shall be representatives of departments or agencies of the Federal Government. These individuals will be experts in matters having to do with industry security and industrial base policy.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The estimated number of Committee meetings is at least one per year. Meeting at least once per year allows the Committee adequate time to study and research industrial security and industrial base policy and provide input to the Under Secretary of Intelligence to consider regarding industrial security and industrial base policy for the Department of Defense.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	Section 1647 of the FY 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, established the Advisory Committee on Industrial Security and Industrial Base Policy, a non-discretionary Committee to provide the Secretary of Defense, through the Under Secretary for Intelligence, independent advice and recommendations on matters relating to industrial security and industrial base policy.

Recommendation Remarks	Per the statute, the committee terminates per FY 17 NDAA, Section 1647(e) on September 30, 2022. On August 16, 2021, DoD Director of Administration and Management approved request for administrative suspension of the CMTE. The DFO will work with DoD ACMO to ensure proper completion of all related FACA issues pertaining to the CMTE to include preservation and disposition any official records.
