How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Census Scientific Advisory Committee provided technical advice and expertise and advises the Census Bureau on the uses of scientific developments in statistical data collection and analysis, geospatial analysis, econometrics, cognitive psychology, and computer science, in relation to the full range of Census programs and activities, including communications, decennial, demographic, economic, field operations, geographic, information technology and statistics.
How is membership balanced?*	Membership was comprised of members reflecting broad scientific disciplines within the scientific community, academia and private enterprise.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	During this reporting period, the Census Scientific Advisory Committee did not meet.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The Committee provided a broader level of technical and scientific expertise to address emerging program challenges and needs. Given the membership balance and technical expertise of this committee, such advice or information could not have been obtained in a more cost-efficient or effective manner. This level of expert advice was not readily available from any other source.

Recommendation Remarks	The Census Advisory Committee of Professional Associations, established by the Secretary of Commerce in February 1994, was renamed the "Bureau of the Census Scientific Advisory Committee," and reestablished, April 15, 2010. Per EO 14217, the Secretary of Commerce has determined that the purposes for which the Census Scientific Advisory Committee was established have been fulfilled, and the committee has been terminated effective February 28, 2025.

Narrative Description*	The Bureau of the Census Scientific Advisory Committee advised the Director, U.S. Census Bureau on the full range of Census Bureau programs and activities including communications, decennial, demographic, economic, field operations, geography, information technology, research and methodology, and other initiatives. The Committee addressed census policies, operations, cost efficiency, innovation, and a broad range of survey methodological concerns to ascertain needs and best practices to improve overall census programs and surveys. The Committee provided formal review and feedback on internal and external working papers, reports, and other documents related to the design and implementation of census programs and surveys.
