How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Board of Advisors provides valuable input and expertise in the formation of guidance and policy. Members are required by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to hold meetings at least once a year. They may hold hearings for the purpose of carrying out the requirements of HAVA.
How is membership balanced?*	The Board of Advisors consists of 35 members* who are appointed by a number of groups, associations, members of the U.S. House and Senate and Congressional majority and minority leadership. * 2 of the statutorily enumerated entities merged into a single group, thus the membership was reduced from 37 to 35.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	Estimated Number of Meetings per Year - 1 According to the Help America Vote Act, the Board of Advisors should hold a meeting of its members not less frequently than once every year for purposes of voting on the voluntary voting system guidelines.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The objective of the Board of Advisors (the Board) is to advise the EAC through review of the voluntary voting systems guidelines described in title II Part 3 of the HAVA; through review of the voluntary guidance described under title III of HAVA; and through the review of the best practices recommendations contained in the report submitted under Section 242(b) of title II (HAVA title II section 212).

Agency Feedback Comment*	EAC provides periodic updates to the Board via postings on the EAC website, publications and presentations during the Board's Annual Meeting and quarterly conference call/virtual meetings.	Narrative Description*	The Board of Advisors reviews proposed voluntary voting system guidelines and EAC technical guidance. It assists the EAC with determining which research studies to pursue and provides comments and alternative viewpoints on all studies. The Board also may hold hearings and take testimony related to carrying out the provisions of the Help America Vote Act.
