How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Defense Advisory Committee on Investigation, Prosecution, and Defense of Sexual Assault in the Armed Forces (DAC IPAD), pursuant to § 546(c)(1) of the FY 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), will advise the Secretary of Defense on the investigation, prosecution, and defense of allegations of rape, forcible sodomy, sexual assault, and other sexual misconduct involving members of the Armed Forces.
How is membership balanced?*	Pursuant to § 546(b) of the FY 2015 NDAA, the DAC IPAD will be composed of no more than 20 members. DAC IPAD members selected shall have experience with the investigation, prosecution, and defense of allegations of sexual assault offenses. Members of the DAC IPAD may include Federal and State prosecutors, judges, law professors, and private attorneys. Members of the Armed Forces serving on active duty may not serve as members of the DAC IPAD.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The DAC IPAD will meet at least once per year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The Secretary of Defense, pursuant to § 546 of the NDAA for FY 2015 (Public Law 113-291), as modified by § 537 of the NDAA for FY 2016 (Public Law 114-92), and in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) of 1972 (5 U.S.C., Appendix, as amended) and 41 C.F.R. § 102-3.50(a), established this non-discretionary committee.
Why close or partially close meetings?	Meetings are not closed to the public unless the Department of Defense determines that items on the planned agenda meet the closed meeting provisions of 5 U.S.C. § 552b(c). Pursuant to DoD Policy, closed meetings can only be authorized by the DoD Sponsor, the General Counsel for the Department of Defense or designee.
Recommendation Remarks	The Secretary of Defense's paused all advisory committee operations effective March 7, 2025 and the conclusion of all committee member appointments effective April 25, 2025. The DAC IPAD is required by statute and the Department of Defense is managing and sustaining this Committee pursuant to this requirement.
