How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Advisory Committee had been instrumental in increasing MBE/WBE/DBE participation in departmental programs by expanding the knowledge base of DBEs regarding transportation-related contract opportunities within DOT, its grantees, and recipients. The committee has been inactive for years.
How is membership balanced?*	The membership of the committee represented a variety of ethnicity and gender. The committee members interacted with their constituency who provide feedback to the committee so that positive input can be provided to the Secretary and the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.The members served at the pleasure of the Secretary and not for specific terms.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The committee held up to three (3) one-day meetings each year. However, it sometimes met only once during the year due to budgetary restrictions. The committee played an important role in the forumulation of policy recommendations for improving programs and increasing awareness of the program to the small and minority business community.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	As non-Federal employees, members of the committee represented groups that are interested in participating in various programs which are offered throughout the Department. The committee comprised of non-paid representatives of their constituences, with demonstrated success in working with governmental agencies and the private sector for the benefit of small, minority, and women-owned businesses. The group was concerned about issues which impact upon the small and minority business as a whole.

Recommendation Remarks	The purpose of the committee is currently fulfilled by the Department's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization. The Department plans to keep the Committee administratively inactive until it is necessary to charter the committee to fill a Departmental need. There is no committee information to report FY20.
