How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The purpose of the National Board of the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (Board) was to provide policy guidance and advice to the Secretary of Education and, by delegation, the Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education, on matters affecting the direction of the FIPSE program.
How is membership balanced?*	The balance of the Board is mandated by statute: not less than eight (8) public interest representatives and no more than seven (7) educational representatives.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	This fiscal year there were no Board meetings.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The Board functioned per the statutory requirements specified in Title VII, Part B, section 742 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended, (20 U.S.C. 1138a).
