How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*By promoting public safety and national security.
How is membership balanced?*The Board is composed of eight State, local, and/or tribal representatives and seven federal representatives which provides balance for the board with the state and local majority as intended and approved. Any future changes to the voting membership of the Board will maintain the continued majority of the State, local, and/or tribal representatives by one seat. Their are two nonvoting members: Legal Counsel and Privacy Officer. Therefore there are 17 members (15 voting and 2 non-voting)

Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*Expert advise and recommendations from the wide variety of members in various capacities will address the technical challenges facing law enforcement agencies with respect to lawfully authorized electronic surveillance, collection of communications evidence, and technical location capabilities; programs, operations, systems and management of the NDCAC; the effectiveness of the NDCAC; and other issues relating to the core functions of the NDCAC.
