How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) meets in open sessions with a wide variety of presentations made by senior staff members from both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Each full committee meeting begins with a summary of activities provided by the heads of OSHA and NIOSH.
How is membership balanced?*	As specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSH Act), NACOSH is comprised of 12 members: four public representatives, two management representatives, two labor representatives, two occupational health professionals and two occupational safety professionals. The Secretary of Health and Human Services designates two of the public representatives and both of the health professionals. All members are appointed by the Secretary of Labor. Consideration is given to diversity in size, type of business, geographic location and personal experience. An effort is made to represent all elements of industry and the public.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	NACOSH did not host any full committee meetings in FY25. NACOSH meeting minutes, and charters can be found at www.regulations.gov under docket OSHA-2024-0005-0010.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	NACOSH is a statutory committee established by the OSH Act of 1970. This is the only group of a continuing nature that brings together employee, employer, and public interests regarding occupational safety and health in general industry. General industry covers a wide range of types of employment. The advice of this group is important to both OSHA and NIOSH in fulfilling their functions.
Why close or partially close meetings?	NACOSH meetings are open to the public and public participation is encouraged.

Agency Feedback Comment*		Narrative Description*	NACOSH advises, consults with, and makes recommendations to the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of Health and Human Services on matters relating to the administration of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The Committee supports the mission and strategic plans of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) by presenting the viewpoints of employers, employees and representatives of health and safety professions. The Committee has members who are qualified by knowledge and experience to make useful contributions to OSHA's and NIOSH's mission for purposes of reducing employee injuries and illnesses.
