How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Committee is a discretionary committee that provides advice to the Secretary of Agriculture and the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). It makes recommendations on the conduct of the periodic censuses and surveys of agriculture, other related surveys, and the types of agricultural information to obtain from respondents. The committee also advises on the content and frequency of agriculture reports, and presents the views and needs for data of major suppliers and users of agriculture statistics.
How is membership balanced?*	The Committee is composed of members with professional knowledge regarding the data needs of the food and fiber sector.Nominations are accepted from organizations representing seven broad categories including consumer and information organizations, educational organizations, farm services organizations, government agencies, national farm organizations, producer and marketing associations, and professional organizations.NASS has actively sought nominations for membership from industries, educational institutions, and individuals representing women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities. NASS will continue to encourage nomination of individuals from these groups to alert them of the opportunity to serve on the Committee.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The full Committee is expected to meet approximately once a year. The subcommittees will meet as deemed necessary by the Chairperson in consultation with the DFO. The Committee makes recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture with regard to the agricultural statistics program of NASS. This input is vital to keep current with shifting data needs in the rapidly changing agricultural environment and keep NASS informed of emerging developments and issues in the agriculture community that can affect agriculture statistics activities.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The Committee is composed of members with professional knowledge regarding the data needs of the food and fiber sector. It provides a direct link with the major agricultural organizations and farm groups which could not be as effectively or efficiently obtained from any other source. The Committee is the primary forum for reconciling the divergent data needs among data user and provider groups. It is also instrumental in helping NASS provide the maximum value from their statistics, within available funding, and to continually improve its products and services.
Why close or partially close meetings?	There were no closed meetings.
Recommendation Remarks	The Committee did not meet in FY24 due to charter expiration. Agency plans to re-establish in FY25 and plans to solicit for nominations as memberships have expired.

Agency Feedback Comment*	Informational memorandum to the committee members that update members on the status of the recommendations. The report is also published with Agency feedback for the recommendations.	Narrative Description*	The purpose of this Committee is to advise the Secretary of Agriculture on the conduct (scope, content,timing, etc) of periodic agricultural censuses and other related surveys. The Committee will prepare recommendations regarding the content of agricultural reports, and present the views and data needs of major suppliers and users of agricultural statistics. Our goals include providing the maximum value from the National Agricultural Statistics Service’s (NASS) statistics, within available funding, and continually improving our products and services. The Committee will be particularly important in broadening and shaping the demographic aspects of NASS survey and census activities.
