How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Committee is charged with assessing Veterans' educational and employment requirements in conjunction with educational and technological advances in their various fields. The Committee provides recommendations to the Secretary in the administration of the educational programs under title 38, United States Code. The Committee continues to focus on Distance Learning, Veteran Vocational Education and Training Programs, and Apprenticeship Programs, and IT system modernization. The Committee's work supports two of VA's strategic goals: Veterans choose VA for easy access, greater choices, and clear information to make informed decisions (#1) and VA will modernize systems and focus resources more efficiently to be competitive and to provide World Class capabilities to Veterans and its employees (#4). The Committee held one public meeting in FY 2024. Public Law 117-180 Section 404, reauthorized the Committee through December 31, 2026.
How is membership balanced?*	The Committee is comprised of eminent representatives from education, labor, and management. With their varied backgrounds, the members bring to the Committee expertise on 1) Active Duty service; 2) experience using the GI Bill education programs to further their own education; 3) Reserve and National Guard affairs; 4) institutions of higher learning; and 5) apprentice and on-the-job training programs. Close attention is given to equitable geographic distribution and to ethnic and gender representation.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	By charter, the Committee is expected to meet at least once annually. In FY 2024, the Committee held one meeting: virtual on November 13-15, 2023. Meetings are made relevant by focusing on providing any information needed by the Committee to produce recommendations and then discussing drafts for recommendations to be submitted this term. The Committee projects holding one in-person meeting in FY 2025.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	Committee members offer a wide range of unique experiences from institutions of higher learning, Veteran Service Organizations, GI Bill students, and technology companies on the needs of Veterans and schools.
Why close or partially close meetings?	The Committee meetings are open to the public.
Recommendation Remarks	Pursuant to Public Law 117-180 Section 404, the Committee has been extended until December 31, 2026. In FY 2024, 10 members terms ended in March and April 2024. Currently, a membership package is under consideration to appoint new members. In December 2023, the Committee submitted its November 2023 Recommendations to VA; the recommendations are currently under review.

Agency Feedback Comment*	*The Committee met in November 2023 and voted on three recommendations for VA consideration. Note: As of the end of FY24, recommendations for the FY had not yet been reviewed by the Department. The November 2023 recommendations are undergoing review and pending approval by VA. The Department submits a formal response to each Committee recommendation, and Department officials brief the Committee on actions taken to implement recommendations.
