How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The committee draws on the expertise of its members to provide advice and make recommendations to the Director, Heliophysics Division, Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters, on heliophysics programs, policies, plans and priorities.
How is membership balanced?*	The Director, Heliophysics Division, ensures a balanced representation in terms of the points of view represented and the functions to be performed.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	In general, the Heliophysics Advisory Committee (HPAC) and its subcommittee, the Space Weather Council (SWC), each meet two to four times per year.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	Consensus scientific advice from outside experts is essential to support NASA heliophysics program planning. NASA is the Federal agency charged with conducting space-based heliophysics research.

Narrative Description*	The committee's recommendations and analysis are used to inform decisions on the programmatic scope and priorities, as well as the implementation of heliophysics programs. In addition, the committee provides a regular forum for broad discussion of heliophysics and the role of heliophysics within and outside of NASA. The committee terminated on 6/12/2021 and was re-established on 9/7/2021.
