How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The committee will meet and determine its priorities for making recommendations to the Secretary of the Treasury. To do so, the members of the committee will conduct outreach in their respective communities and Indian country generally to solicit both advice and comments on the committee's stated goals and ideas for issues or projects that the committee should take up.
How is membership balanced?*	Five different parties appoint committee members. The Secretary of the Treasury appoints three members and each of the Chairs and Ranking Members of the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee each appoint one member. The Secretary's appointees were selected after an open application and nomination process.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	There was 1 meetings conducted in FY2024 before the committee was granted a FACA exemption.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The members of the committee are tribal leaders with real world experience and expertise related to issues important to the Indian country. The Treasury Department conducts listening and consultation sessions with tribes and tribal representatives, but having a standing committee of experts who can prioritize issues related to the taxation of Indian country is important to Indian tribes and tribal members, and over time is a function that this committee is more suited to.
