How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	Two virtual meetings were held. Both meetings were advertised in the Federal Register and open to the public with a WebEX link. Topics presented included the GEC Strategic Plan , recruitment and retention by the Office of Workforce Management Consulting. Three GRECC Subcommittee/GEC site visits were conducted in FY24 at Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, and San Antonio. VA Strategic Goals: Goal 1: Veterans choose VHA as their health care provider and coordinator, built on trusted, long–term relationships, Goal 2: VHA delivers high–quality, accessible and integrated health care, Goal 3: VHA maximizes performance through shared ownership and is on the forefront of innovation, Goal 4: VHA optimizes assets across the enterprise 2022–2025 VHA Long–Range Plan Framework.
How is membership balanced?*	The Committee is composed of non-federal members represented by leading medical and allied health experts in the fields of geriatric medicine, psychology, nursing, pharmacy, health care administration, and education from the non-Federal public and private sectors. Representatives of stakeholder groups (e.g., Veterans services organizations) have membership on the Committee as well. In Fy24 GGAC added it's first Representative member. Efforts are made to ensure that membership has suitable diversity through balanced representation by discipline, academic/non-academic status and self reported gender, ethnicity. Occupants of key positions in government agencies that are concerned with aging and health resources serve as ex-officio members.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The Committee generally meets twice a year and has substantive discussions with VA officials concerning development of VA physician and other health professional geriatric leadership, geriatric/gerontological research and geriatric fellowships; and existing and proposed VA- and non-VA programs impacting VA's geriatric and long term care services; and reviews GRECC performance measures.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The Committee represents a unique blend of non-VA academic, clinical, health policy, and research expertise combined with legislatively astute stakeholder/customer perspectives that would not be available through any other means. External review of VA geriatric programs by non-VA experts provides objectivity and broadens VA perspectives.

Feedback is always a key component of the presentation.	Narrative Description*	The Committee supports the agency's mission by monitoring (through Performance Measures and site visits) the activity of the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Centers (GRECCs); by regularly reviewing the GRECCs on-site to ensure the quality of their activities and/or develop recommendations intended to restore quality; and by keeping the Under Secretary for Health and the Secretary informed of new developments in geriatrics and gerontology of which the Veterans Health Administration should be aware.
