How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Commission's reponsibility is to recommend 11-19 future leaders to the President for selection as White House Fellows. The Commission helps recruits a diverse group of applicants, screens the applicants and makes recommendations to the President.
How is membership balanced?*	The Commission was established to identify future leaders for the White House Fellows Program. The Commissioners come from a wide variety of fields, but share a community as civic leaders. With their diverse backgrounds, they are able to evaluate applicants from a variety of professions, including academia, business, government, the arts and community service.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The Commission meets twice each year. The first meeting is in January for a mid-year check-in and the second is in the summer to interview National Finalists and make recommendations to the President for selection as Fellows.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	Only the Commission can fully evaluate the candidates for the White House Fellowship because of their leadership positions and the expertise they have developed on the White House Fellows program.
Why close or partially close meetings?	The closed meetings held in January and June 2024 were during Mid-Year Meeting and Selection Weekend. The meetings were in accordance with the Sunshine Act, 5 U.S.C. 552b(c) as noted in 41 CRF 102-3.155.5. There are privacy concerns. During the meeting Commissioners discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the National Finalists. During the mid-year meeting, Fellows openly discuss the status of work at their placements.
