How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The TACA was established pursuant to the Uruguay Round and implementing legislation in Section 134. The TACA's purpose is to advise, provide information to USTR, and submit a report to Congress developing a comprehensive trade and development policy for Africa.
How is membership balanced?*	The TACA has not more than 30 members, including representatives from a broad spectrum of economic interests including industry, services, academia, investment, labor and environmental sectors.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The committee will meet as needed at the call of the U.S. Trade Representative or his/her designee, depending on various factors such as the level of activity of trade negotiations and the needs of the members of the TACA.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	TACA members are uniquely authorized to access trade sensitive and classified information to provide USTR with advice.
Why close or partially close meetings?	In order to receive the most informed advice possible, the advisory committee members are regularly briefed on U.S. strategies and bargaining-positions (information that is typically trade sensitive and often classified).
