How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	IGPAC was established pursuant to Section 135 of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended. Its purpose is to advise, consult, and make recommendations to the U.S. trade Representative and relevant cabinet agencies on policy issues including, but not limited to statutes and trade policy objectives as well as statutes, regulations, and other acts promulgated or enacted by the Federal Government that may affect the relationship of international trade and state/local governments.
How is membership balanced?*	IGPAC is comprised of not more than 35 members representing non-federal Government trade interest including governors, legislators, state/local level economic development and trade official port authorities, insurance and banking commissioners, etc.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The committee will meet as needed at the call of the U.S. Trade Representative or his/her designee, depending on various factors such as the level of activity of trade negotiations and the needs of the members of the IGPAC.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	IGPAC members are uniquely authorized to access trade sensitive and classified information to provide USTR with advice.
Why close or partially close meetings?	In order to receive the most informed advice possible, the advisory committee members are regularly briefed on U.S. strategies and bargaining positions (information that is typically trade sensitive and often classified).
