How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Electronic Records Archives (ERA) system will be a comprehensive, systematic, and dynamic means for storing, preserving, and accessing virtually any kind of electronic record, free from dependence on any specific hardware or software. ERA will make it easy for NARA customers to find the records they want and easy for NARA to deliver those records in formats suited to customers' needs. The Advisory Committee on Electronic Records Archives (ACERA) allows the Government to gain regular and invaluable advice at a low cost for one of NARA's most integral program areas - the preservation of and access to electronic records. ACERA advises the Archivist on issues related to the implementation, maintenance, and use of the ERA system.
How is membership balanced?*	Committee membership is balanced in terms of professional expertise and personal qualifications. The members represent the viewpoints of all levels of government, private sector, archival, historical, political science, and genealogical communities.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The committee meets twice a year to discuss relevant topics for the advancement of NARA's ERA program.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	By advising NARA on the ERA program, the Committee’s unique expertise will improve our response to the multi-faceted challenges posed by the increasing volume, variety, and complexity of electronic records created as government relies more and more on information and networking technologies and thereby fill a void in this emerging field of technology.
