How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Committee will develop a draft Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) Synthesis and Assessment Product that addresses Topic 3.3: Weather and Climate Extremes in a Changing Climate. The Committee will update NOAA on the progress during the development of the CCSP Synthesis and Assessment Product for topic 3.3 and will agree upon the contents of the product before advising NOAA to adopt the language.
How is membership balanced?*	Members will be appointed to assure a balanced representation of scientific views among preeminent scientists, educators, and experts reflecting the full scope of the scientific issues addressed in CCSP Synthesis and Assessment Product 3.3.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The Committee's only FY08 meeting preceded submission of the final draft document for Administration approval. During its lifetime prior to FY08, the Committee held three open meetings. These focused on the development of draft document contents and the preparation of responses to public and peer review comments. These meetings were critical to the production of a comprehensive and balanced final document.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	This Committee is essential so that the Secretary of Commerce can comply with duties imposed on the Department, including the Global Change Research Act of 1990 (P.L. No. 101-606, Section 106). There is no other source available to provide this information.
