How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The Committee provides advice and guidance on environmental public health problems that potentially pose the greatest risks to human health and may not be receiving adequate attention, they respond and share solutions to environmental public health problems worldwide, which will ultimately provide sound human health data for policy and decision-making. The Committee normally meets twice a year, with conference calls when needed. The Committee members are aware of the mission of the Committee and with this in mind, issues are presented and discussed among the members in an open forum where ideas and solutions are shared. When needed a consensus is reached and voted upon and the action goes forward for recommendation.
How is membership balanced?*	The Committee structure consists of 18 public members, authorities knowledgeable in the field of environmental public health or related disciplines. Membership is balanced by attempting to locate experts in a chosen field where views from females and ethnic groups are represented on the Committee membership.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The Committee met once in FY 2004. The meeting was relevant in that the meeting agendas involve issues which need discussion and/or resolution. Meetings are normally conducted twice a year, with conference calls when needed.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The Advisory Committee provides expert advice on NCEH goals and objectives, strategies, and priorities. The Committee’s advice adds value to the decision making process of NCEH and thereby provides sound human health data for policy so that environmental public health effects are minimized or eliminated.
Why close or partially close meetings?	All meetings were open to the public during the fiscal year 2004.
Recommendation Remarks	The NCEH Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD) terminated on 5/27/2004 to come into alignment with the consolidation of the NCEH/ATSDR's OD. A single BSC, NCEH/ATSDR was established combining the previous ATSDR Board of Scientific Counselors and NCEH Advisory Committee to the Director on 5/28/2004.
