How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The committee acts in an advisory capacity to the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary's Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy and Compliance, providing recommendations and reports intended to improve the security of transmission and storage of drug testing electronic records from drug testing laboratories to Medical Review Officers. The Department established procedures for transportation workplace drug and alcohol testing programs by regulation in 1989.develop recommendations for minimum standards under which drug testing information required by DOT Regulations will be transmitted stored, and safeguarded.
