How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	Through their meetings and follow-up correspondence, the Council members advise and assist HHS and its partners in developing and implementing goals and objectives to enhance health status and reduce risks for Americans by the year 2010. Their recommendations have been adopted in large part.
How is membership balanced?*	In balancing its membership between former Assistant Secretaries for Health and currently-serving heads of HHS Operating Divisions, the Council draws on the historical perspectives of the former group and the contemporary experience of the latter.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	Approximately once a year, the minimum necessary to ensure viability of the effort.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	No other readily-accessible body or source of information exists comparable to the range and depth of knowledge represented by members of the Council.
