How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	Established by law in 2003, the NMLSB advises the Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services with respect to the duties, powers, and authority of the Institute relating to museum, library, and information services. Meetings are held pursuant to 20 U.S.C. 9105a.
How is membership balanced?*	IMLS’s authorizing legislation establishes the membership of the NMLSB. It consists of the IMLS Director; Deputy Director for the Office of Library Services, Deputy Director for the Office of Museum Services, the General Counsel (Secretary); ten (10) library professionals who are specially qualified by virtue of their education, training, expertise, or commitment to libraries; and ten (10) museum professionals who are specially qualified by virtue of their education, training, expertise, or commitment to museums. The legislation requires that appointments reflect persons from various regions of the United States, and an equitable representation of women, minorities, and persons with disabilities who are involved with museums and libraries.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The NMLSB shall meet at least two (2) times a year, and at the call of the Director of IMLS.
