How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The purpose of a Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act resource advisory committee is to provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service consistent with Division C, Title VI of Public Law 110-343. The Act describes the duties of the committees as follows: to review projects proposed by counties and other interested parties; to recommend projects and funding; to provide early and continuous coordination with Forest Service officials; to provide frequent opportunities for citizens, organizations, tribes, land management agencies and other interested parties to participate openly and meaningfully, beginning in the early stages of project development; to monitor projects approved under the Act; to advise the designated federal official on the progress of monitoring; and to make recommendations for any appropriate changes or adjustments to projects being monitored.
How is membership balanced?*Six new committee members were appointed in 2024, and the committee is currently full. The committee is comprised of up to 15 members, five in each of three categories prescribed in the Act. Within each category, the Act identifies specific interests members are to represent. The Act requires members to be residents of the states within which the committee has jurisdiction, CO or WY.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The committee generally will meet 1 time per year as needed to perform its duties, or as often as needed. The committee meetings are integral in incorporating recommendations from various public representatives to implement on National Forest System Lands.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The RAC is necessary to improve collaborative relationships among the people that use and care for the National Forests and to provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service concerning projects and funding consistent with Title II of the Act.

No recommendations were obtained subsequently.Narrative Description*The Greater Rocky Mountain Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) consists of up to 15 members of the public who represent a variety of interests and work together to review and recommend funding for projects across nine National Forests spanning 29 counties in the Rocky Mountain Region. The RAC is chartered under the Secure Rural Schools & Community Self Determination Act of 2000 – Title II. Six new committee members were nominated to the Greater Rocky Mountain RAC in FY25, now fulfilling all the committee’s 15 seats and include representatives from diverse sectors with public land interests to inform Agency decisions.
