How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*	The committee will accomplish its purpose through diverse broad representation ensuring a wide range of perspectives are brought to bear and through regular public meetings to receive, review and recommend proposals benefitting National Forest System lands and the people who use them.
How is membership balanced?*	The South Tongass RAC comprises 3 boroughs. The RAC has conducted outreach to gain a balanced membership when the committee becomes active.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*	The South Tongass Resource Advisory Committee may meet up to twice per year. These meetings are essential to receiving, reviewing and recommending proposals and ensuring Secure Rural Schools Title II funds are disbursed.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*	The RAC brings together representatives from various small communities and various walks of life to receive, review and recommend proposals that benefit National Forest System lands. No other committees perform this function with such widespread and informed local knowledge.
Why close or partially close meetings?	Meetings are open to the public.

Narrative Description*	By recommending projects that maintain and improve the health of national forest ecosystems and improve cooperative relationships among the people who use and care for the national forests, the Secure Rural Schools resource advisory committees support the Forest Service mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations. The committees specifically support Forest Service strategic goals to 1. Restore, sustain, and enhance the national forests; and 2. Provide and sustain benefits to the American people.
